My husband

My husband, Damon, is the kind of person that knows what he wants and will do anything to achieve his goals.  He is determined, steadfast and intelligent.  Now these describe his work ethic, but there is much more to him than a strong-willed, hard worker.  He has passion.
He has passion in many variables of his life, for example, one passion is his truck. His truck is his pride and joy.  It’s something he earned growing up and to this day, makes him proud. He also has passion for the brotherhood he shares with the United States Marine Corps.  A true and honored time of his life, he grew to know himself inside and out, and has found a sense of purpose and bonding.  He honors himself and his country. He will never let a single sole bad mouth or hurt anyone or who is willing to sacrifice mind, body and soul for what he believes. His other passion and the one I think is most important, is me. I have been his love and happiness for seven years. I am someone who loves and cares for him, when so many others before we’re too selfish and shallow.
We had set aside a Saturday to do some work on his truck.  After a full day of checking off our list, we were finally home, cleaning out my jeep and carrying items into the house. It was a moment where my mind was focused on the task at hand and I was taken completely off guard. Needless to say, it was also moment that I will remember for the rest of my life.
As we carried armfuls of items into the house, Damon ran through a quick check-list with me to make sure we hadn’t forgotten anything.  He started with, “Hey honey, did you remember to grab my coat so I have it tomorrow for work?”  My response was, “I got it honey, I don’t want you to freeze tomorrow.”  “Thanks.” “Did you remember the dog’s leaches?” “Yup, I also grabbed the water jug.  Anything else you can think of?”  After a short pause, he asked, “Do you still have my heart?”  Taken back for a split second, not expecting this question to be asked, and without missing a beat, I responded, “Of course honey, I never go anywhere without it.  I love you!”
I describe these passions of his to give a sense of understanding and an idea of who he is deep down.  He is an all around, good natured, caring man who knows when and how to stop and smell the roses.  He enjoys having a good time relaxing with friends and unwinding, yet can maintain professionalism when the moment calls for it.  He tends to hide the ‘sappy lover’ side of himself but it occasionally sneaks out to surprise me and assure he’s still got it.  I love those moments! The more spontaneous they are, the more they make me twitter-pated.
